Merle K. Evey was born on October 9, 1930 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 1952 and his Juris Doctor degree from The Dickinson School of Law in 1955. He was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 1956, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in 1959 and the Supreme Court of the United States of America in 1960. He is currently a member of the Blair County Bar Association for which he served on the Board of Governors from 1963 to 1971 and as President in 1981 and 1982. He currently serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board for Penn State Altoona. He was a member of the House of Delegates from 1978 to 1980 and on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Bar Association from 1983 to 1986. He served as Chairman of the Editorial Board/Publications Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association from 1986 to 1989. In addition thereto, he served as Solicitor for the County of Blair from 1978 to 2000. Mr. Evey retired from the practice of law in May 2008.
