Will workers’ compensation cover my injuries?

On Behalf of | Jul 23, 2019 | Uncategorized |

On the job, there are many things you could do that would result in an injury. You might slip on a wet floor, fall from a ladder or cut yourself on a sharp edge of a desk. You could hit your head on a low ceiling or be struck by a falling object.

No matter what happened, if you were hurt at work, you should be eligible for workers’ compensation coverage. This coverage helps protect you by providing you financial coverage for your medical care. If you have to miss work, you may also be able to receive a portion of your lost wages and even training for a new position if necessary.

Do all employers have to carry workers’ compensation?

Workers’ compensation is a requirement for most employers, but it’s not for all. When you start working for a new company, it’s a smart idea to talk to the employer about workers’ compensation and if it’s provided. There should be information listed in your breakroom or in other obvious locations where you can find out more about the workers’ compensation coverage offered in your workplace.

Are all injuries covered by workers’ compensation?

For the most part, yes. When you’re hurt on the job and didn’t intentionally cause the injury, it’s likely to be covered. However, if you hurt yourself purposefully or due to being intoxicated or using drugs, then the claim may not go through.

You should reach out to your employer if you’re hurt. Seek medical care, and start your claim as soon as you can do so.
